Will Smith isn't holding anything back during his promo run for his new click Suicide Squad. He was in the Middle East on Sunday (Aug 7.) and spoke out plainly against the Islamophobia running rampant in the U.S., particularly via conservative talk radio and Fox News.

"The Middle East can't allow Fox News to be the arbiter of the imagery, you know?" he said, as reported by Billboard.  "So cinema is a huge way to be able to deliver the truth of the soul of a place to a global audience."

He went on to say that in some ways, Donald Trump's racism is good.

"As painful as it is to hear Donald Trump talk and as embarrassing as it is as an American to hear him talk, I think it's good," Smith said. "We get to know who people are and now we get to cleanse it out of our country."

Smith has been very outspoken about his disdain for Trump throughout this promo run. In a press interview for the film last week, he said he was blown away by how blatantly disrespectful and racist Trump has been, and how that behavior has been applauded in many circles.

“For a man to be able to publicly refer to a woman as a fat pig, that makes me teary,” Smith said in the interview. “And for people to applaud, that is absolutely f—ing insanity to me. My grandmother would have smacked my teeth out of my head if I had referred to a woman as a fat pig. And I cannot understand how people can clap for that. It’s absolutely collective insanity.”

This, of course, isn't the first time Smith has been vocal about social justice issues. While some critics took aim at the stance he took with his wife, actress Jada Pinkett-Smith, in boycotting the Academy Awards, claiming that it was motivated by self-interest because Smith wasn't nominated for his turn in Concussion, the move prompted change. The film academy ultimately promised to double the number of female and minority members as well as diversify its leadership.

Speaking about the importance of black humanity, he specifically recalled advice he received from the late Nelson Mandela. "They have to know that your black skin won't hurt them," he said.
