Tyler + Smith County Alcohol Election Procedures to be Challenged

A resident of Smith County Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 is planning to file an injunction against the City of Tyler and Smith County claiming improper election procedures involving Propositions 1 and 2, which includes the legal sales of beer and wine.

The injunction to be filed Monday would prevent tabulation and certification of votes cast in Tuesdays Election.

Supporters of the Buy Local First Committee said the latest attempt by the opposition is a frivolous action, and the timing of an injunction is an attempt to influence the outcome of the election.

The opposition has now raised this issue in three jurisdictions -- the City of Tyler, Smith County and Sulphur Springs and in all three their claims were resoundingly rejected, according to Buy Local First Committee.
