Tyler local Andre "Exalt" Thomas is a Salvation Army Bell Ringer attempting to break a world record by ringing the bell for more than 80 hours continuously.

Andre began ringing his bell on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the goal of breaking the world record. He said that 3 a.m. is when it got hard, but relentlessly he pushed through. When asked what moved him to participate in this challenge, he replied:

"I want to continue to do my part in fighting poverty and homelessness. Thanks to The Salvation Army and my Lord for continuing to put me where I need to be in order to help. This is a national event, which means possibly hundreds, thousands or millions could be touched and moved to help others or help The Salvation Army help others.”

He also is attempting to break another record by raising more than $4,000 this year. To support Andre visit him at Walgeens on Broadway and Rieck Road in Tyler. The record breaking time is 8 p.m. tonight.
