During his club team Everton’s English Premier League match against Bolton, US National Team goalkeeper Tim Howard did the almost impossible– he scored while clearing the ball from his own goal area.

But Howard didn’t celebrate his unlikely strike, which flew 75 yards in the air and then took a big first bounce over the head of Bolton goalie Ádám Bogdán. And after the game, Howard expressed sympathy for his fellow net-minder:

“I let [Bogdán] know that I was feeling for him,” Howard explained. “It’s not a nice place to be. I’ve been there before, a long, long time ago, and that was why I didn’t celebrate.”

Bogdán shouldn’t feel that bad, as he didn’t allow in any goals from the players who are supposed to score, and Bolton defeated Everton 2-to-1. Watch only the fourth goalie goal in English Premier League history below.
