There have been three confirmed cases of infant botulism in East Texas and one case that is being tested. There were two cases in Troup, once in Mineola and another in Tyler that is being tested, according to EastTexasMatters.com!

According to KidsHealth.org, "Infant botulism is an illness that can happen when a baby ingests bacteria that produce a toxin inside the body." If infant Botulism is left untreated, it can be deadly to babies. Experts say that is can be caused by bacteria in dirt or the air. Dr. Ali Azghani, an infectious disease expert at UT Tyler, told KETK that there are initial symptoms, “If they are not active, they are weak they don’t want to eat, they don’t cry, they cry but the cry is weak.”
