Open house is scheduled for Tyler's newest fire stations.

Tyler's Fire Department will be showcasing two of their new facilities - Fire Station 1 and Fire Station 4. The first of the open houses will be held at Fire Station 4 on Monday, February 3rd from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Fire station 4 is located at 7445 Cherryhill Dr. The open house for fire station 1 will be held on Friday, February 7th from 3:30 to 6 p.m. and is located at 801 W. Gentry Parkway in Tyler.

These two new fire stations were built to replace and relocate the current Fire Stations 1 and 4. According to a press release from The City Of Tyler, construction on these new facilities began in November of 2018 and says,

The newest Station 1, which will replace the original downtown Station 1, is built on six acres located at the corner of West Gentry Boulevard and Palace Street. The building is a five bay fire house and is an approximately an 18,000 square foot structure. It will house the North Battalion Commander, Fire Engine 1, Fire Ladder 1, the Regional Hazardous Materials Trailer and pull vehicle and the Technical Rescue Trailer and pull vehicle. The station will be staffed with nine firefighters, including a battalion chief. It will also be the location of the Primary Emergency Operations Center.

 

Station 4 is built on 1.4 acres and is located at 7445 Cherryhill Dr. just south of Cumberland Parkway, replaces current Station 4 which is located on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Station 4 is approximately 11,000 square feet. It has three bays and will house Fire Engine 4, Brush Truck 4, and a reserve training engine. The station will be used as the recruit training station for the future Tyler Fire Department training academy.
