While driving to work I saw something that made me cringe in my drivers seat.  I witnessed on four different occasions where drivers were texting behind the wheel.  They just paid no regard to their surroundings and I actually had to change lanes to avoid any possible collision.  Just a few days ago I posted how texting and driving could be illegal in Texas and now it seems like it really will be a reality.

From KXAN - Austin the Texas Senate passed the House Bill 62 in a 23-8 vote.  It may soon be heading to the Governor’s desk, but it needs one more vote.  In four attempts the Texas lawmakers tried to pass this legislation in Texas as the state is currently one of four states in the country without a statewide ban on texting and driving.

Representative Tom Craddick (R-Midland) said the following via KENS 5

If you look at statistics in the 46 other states that have passed it, what you're seeing is their number of accidents are down, their number of deaths are down, their number of property damage is down.  So we just had to prove to people that it's working in other states and it'll work in this state. The A&M study alone says it will save over 90 lives a year in Texas by just passing this law. If you just save one, to me, it's worth it.

Supporters expect Governor Greg Abbott to sign the Bill.
