James Byrd Jr. can finally rest in peace!

The horrible incident that took place 21 years ago has come to a conclusion as John William King was executed yesterday (April 24th) in Huntsville, Texas.

According to KYTX, King who is described as a "unrepentant racist" orchestrated the 1998 dragging death of 49-year-old James Byrd Jr.

John William King along with two other men chained Byrd to the back of a truck and dragged him for nearly three miles in Jasper, Texas, with prosecutors saying he was targeted because he was black.

Byrd was alive for at least two of the miles before his body was ripped apart.

King who was openly racist  had tattoos on his body that included one of a black man hanging from a tree with a noose around his neck.

Lawrence Russell Brewer was the first to be put to death in 2011, and Shawn Allen Barry was sentenced to life in prison.

King was pronounced dead at 7:03 p.m.

God bless the life of James Byrd Jr.
