Kendrick Lamar is lending his talents to another rock track with 'Backwards,' featured on the 'Divergent' soundtrack. The newly released song features a collaboration with the Australian band Tame Impala.

The airy effort kicks off with a chorus by Tame Impala singer Kevin Parker, who has an original version titled 'Feels Like We Only Go Backwards.' Kendrick steps in for a full two verses and Parker singing the hook.

The Compton rapper serves witty bars backed by steady strings. "I live my life a rebel, a vigilante / Devils try to get at me / Pedal through this underworld / Undertakers won't catch me," Kendrick raps.

The track comes at the heels of his performance with rock band Imagine Dragons at the Grammy Awards and at 'SNL' earlier this year. Kendrick dabbling in more rock sounds doesn't seem to strip the rapper of his powerful lyrics.

'Divergent' takes place in a post-apocalyptic Chicago, where a young girl leaves her family to become part of a different faction of society. The soundtrack already features Chance the Rapper, A$AP Rocky, Sam Dew and Ellie Goulding and will be released March 11.
