The music world has been very supportive in the ongoing campaign to legalize gay marriage. The news of the Supreme Court ruling to overturn two laws prohibiting same-sex marriage certainly brought joy to many artists who have been outspoken about marriage equality.

To sum it up, the Court ruled on Wednesday (June 26) that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) was unconstitutional by a 5-4 majority vote, which effectively restored the legality of gay marriage in California.

Alicia Keys, who has been a staunch supporter of legalizing gay marriage wrote on her Twitter timeline, "I am standing on the right side of history. I stand with @HRC for marriage equality."

Rapper Tyler, the Creator, who is often criticized for his homophobic lyrics, tweeted to his followers, "DOMA's Demise Hell Yuh."

Macklemore, whose song 'Same Love' is an ode to marriage equality, wrote a jubilant tweet about today’s ruling.

'American Idol' alum Jessica Sanchez was also elated about the Court's decision. "Fight for the right to give all, fight for the right to fall in love" -- #RightToFall. RT if you support #MarriageEquality!" she wrote.
