Tragedy struck the campus of Tyler Junior College as police responded to the residence hall after a student was found unresponsive.

According to KLTV, around 7:50 p.m. Saturday (August 14th) a female student was unresponsive as emergency medical services were notified to aid the student.

The school released a press release shortly stating the student was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace James Meridith and also requested a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

The student's parents were notified and met with campus officials.
