Stroke Awareness Day 4: Blame It On The Alcohol

If you did not know, alcohol plays a big role in a person suffering stroke. Heavy drinkers have a very high risk of experiencing stroke earlier in life. The risk factor connected to alcohol is bleeding on the brain.

Research was done on 540 people who have an intracerebral hemorrhage which is a stroke caused by bleeding on the brain, not a blood clot. Out of the 540 people, 25% (137) were heavy drinkers. Heavy drinkers meant that they consumed approximately three alcoholic drinks per day.
