Instead of changing the wrappers of most candy we hand out on Halloween, manufactures insult us with making them smaller. Bite size everything, that is usually the only way to identify Halloween candy. This year things are different, as Skittles changes their wrapper for the spooky holiday. They are also making it taste worse, or at least some of the pieces will..

One look a the black and silver Zombie Skittles wrapper lets you know everything this product is about. There is a shadow of a zombie, about to grab the red skittle on top of the letter i in Skittles. It screams Halloween, and if that wasn't clear enough, a big cloud with the words BEWARE!!! in all caps.

Under the rainbow, the quirky brand has the following instructional explanation and dare. "Most taste delicious but some taste like Rotten Zombie. Dare to try?" Candy lovers world wide, have been fired up about this new Skittles flavor for almost a year now.

Be careful if you are trying to taste the rainbow this fall, because you may get a taste of something rotten! Skittles is releasing a new flavor this Halloween called, Zombie Skittles — try it if you dare!

The Zombie Skittles packs contain the usual suspects as far as flavors go — but with a spooky twist on the names! The candy packs are made up of a mix of five fruity flavors: Petrifying Citrus Punch, Mummified Melon, Boogeyman Blackberry, Chilling Black Cherry, and Blood Red Berry.

Here’s where it gets wEiRd. There’s a rotten flavor hidden in every pack! You won’t know which candy is the nasty-tasting one until it’s too late and you’re already mid-chew.

“Our fans love SKITTLES® not just for its delicious fruity flavors, but for the irreverence and sense of humor for which the brand is known,” said Rebecca Duke, SKITTLES® Senior Brand Manager, Mars Wrigley U.S. “This Halloween, we wanted to give our fans the ultimate rotten twist on the candy they know and love, challenging them to test their bravery over a bag of Zombie SKITTLES®.”

To add to the excitement, Skittles is also launching the #DareTheRainbow Challenge with the release of this new product. Here’s how it works — gather some of your friends, open up a pack of Zombie Skittles, and record everyone’s reactions! Share the video on Instagram using #DareTheRainbow and tag @skittles.

Zombie Skittles will be available in major retailers across the U.S. Let us know when you start seeing them in a store near you! Good luck…

Skittles were always my go to snack for school. Mostly quiet, super tasty, and they lasted a long time. That was my criteria for a good snack. The trend of "kids like gross stuff" has been around almost 20 years, so this only makes sense. Have you tried them yet? Did you see them at a local store? Lets us know in the comments via the KFox 955 App.
