George won a scholarship to the University of Oklahoma where he spent three years studying to become a teacher, but unfortunately he ran out of money and began working as a cook at the school so he would have the funds to complete his degree.

He took a job as a cook in the university's cafeteria and formed a Gospel Choir. Shortly after, American Idol was holding auditions and he was on his way to Hollywood. On American Idol, he ended up placing fifth place overall on Season 3.

After Idol, George released his first album Miracles in 2005 followed up with My Christmas EP! and self-titled album George Huff. Currently, George is touring with Jennifer Hudson and recording a new album.
