Show ’em You Care With Sweet & Easy Valentine’s Day Treats
Valentine's Day is not about spending a small fortune to express your love for your family. There are a ricecrispymillion and one ways to make EVERY day special with a little creativity and fore thought.
It's an annual event at my house that I sneak some Valentine's Day "Tricked Out" Rice Crispy Treats -- my gold star recipe after the jump.
Rice Crispy Treats
3 tablespoons butter or margarine (I ONLY use butter)
1 package (10 oz., about 40) regular marshmallows (Kraft has some fun heart shaped pink ones out)
- OR -
4 cups miniature marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispies®
Betty Crocker I am NOT. I don't mess up my whole kitchen with getting double boilers out (like I even own one) below are the microwave directions -- clean up is a snap especially when you have a dishwasher.
MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS:
In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Microwave cooking times may vary.
2. Add KELLOGG'S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.
3. Using buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool. Cut into 2-inch squares. Best if served the same day.
My kids love me to sprinkle the 9 x 13 cake pan with Heath bits and seasonal sprinkles -- they claim it doubles the flavor - more like doubles the sugar! Diabetic coma to follow -- enjoy -- Happy Valentine's Day.
