The Miracle League of East Texas will host the Run It Like It’s Hot! Miracle Mud Run on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Lear Park Athletic Complex in Longview.

Last year’s event featured a 5K course full of trails, obstacles and mud. More than 800 runners participated in last year’s event, and the 2015 event is planned to be even bigger and better. Once again, there will be a separate mini-course for kids ages 6 to 11.

Registration cost for the main course begins at $55, with discounts offered for teams of 4 or more. The kids’ course registration is $25, and spectator passes are $5.

You can visit to find out more about the event, to register, or to sign up to volunteer.

The Miracle League of East Texas is hosting the event to continue to raise funds needed to build the Miracle League baseball field at Lear Park, the area’s first field specifically constructed to meet the unique requirements of special needs children.

Serving families in a 90-mile radius, this field will feature a rubberized turf field and will accommodate wheelchairs and other assistive devices while helping to avoid injuries. In close proximity, there will be a playground which is 100% handicap accessible. There are more than 18,000 physically and mentally challenged children in the immediate area who will qualify to play on the field.

Bob Graham, President of the Board for the Miracle League of East Texas, states that “Every child deserves the chance to play baseball, and to create and share those lifelong memories most of us take for granted. What a small thing we can do to make such a difference for so many. I encourage everyone to be a part of this incredible project by coming out to run the event, or even just to spectate.”
