Wednesday was a sad day. We lost iconic, award-winning actress Ruby Dee, who passed away at the age of 91. Her acting career spanned seven decades and she is most remembered for her role in the stage play A Rasin In The Sun.

I remember her most for her role in Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing and American Gangster staring Denzel Washington. She was married to Ozzie Davis and they shared an enduring love. Both were actors, producers, writers and activist. Ozzie passed away in 2005 they had been married for 56 years.

Ruby's daughter reports that she passed away at her home in Rochester, New York with family and friends at her bedside.
