Raven-Symone “I Never Said I Wasn’t Black”

Raven-Symone has responded to the backlash she has gotten from saying "I'm not African American." Twitter was on fire and black people everywhere were outraged.

During her interview with Oprah, Raven stated that she did not like being labeled, whether it was her sexuality or race. She explained that she is a lot of things and was unsure where her roots began.

To clear up that she never said she was not black, the former Disney Channel star said to The Grio:

"I never said I wasn't black...I want to make that very clear. I said, I am not African-American. I never expected my personal beliefs and comments to spark such emotion in people. I think it is only positive when we can openly discuss race and being labeled in America."
