Prince has been honored with his own shade of purple by Pantone.

Obviously, the late music icon had an affinity for the color, so much so, he was regularly referred to as "The Purple One," and now he's being honored with a signature shade of purple by the The Pantone Color Institute in conjunction with his estate.

The custom purple hue is called Love Symbol #2 and was inspired by his custom-made Yamaha purple piano.

“The color purple was synonymous with who Prince was and will always be. This is an incredible way for his legacy to live on forever,” said Troy Carter, Entertainment Advisor to Prince’s Estate in a statement.

Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute said they were "honored" to work on the development of the color.

“A musical icon known for his artistic brilliance, Love Symbol #2 is emblematic of Prince’s distinctive style," Pressman said. "Long associated with the purple family, Love Symbol #2 enables Prince’s unique purple shade to be consistently replicated and maintain the same iconic status as the man himself."
