A day before he performs at his “Rally 4 Peace” concert in Baltimore on Sunday (May 10), Prince delivered a new song called “Baltimore.” The soulful tune is in tribute to the people of B-More and Freddie Gray who died after a spine injury while in police custody.

The track, which was recorded in early May at Prince’s Paisley Park in Minnesota, features crying guitars and the backing harmonies of his girl band 3RDEYEGIRL. There’s also a fantastic Prince guitar solo as well.

The Purple One urges peace and love on the song as he asks, "Does anybody hear us pray? / For Michael Brown or Freddie Gray / Peace is more than the absence of war.”

Then on the chorus, Prince and 3RDEYEGIRL sing, “We are trying of crying and people are dying / Let’s take all the guns away.” They followed it with the protest chant, If there ain’t no justice, then there ain’t no peace.”

On Mother’s Day, Prince will perform at his Rally 4 Peace concert in Baltimore in an effort to ending the unrest and violence that happening in the city.

“In a spirit of healing, the event is meant to be a catalyst for pause and reflection following the outpouring of violence that has gripped Baltimore and areas throughout the U.S. As a symbolic message of our shared humanity and love for one another, attendees are invited to wear something gray in tribute to all those recently lost in the violence,” reads a press release from LiveNation.

Jay Z’s new streaming service TIDAL will stream the concert live for free. The performance will be offered via a “pre-paywall,” meaning users won’t have to subscribe to watch the show online. Additionally, the streaming service will "match funds" of any donation made through its official website with the monies going to local youth charities and the Baltimore Justice Fund.

Props to Prince and Jay Z for doing their part in helping the city of Baltimore come together in peace.
