News sources this morning announced ONE winning ticket for last night's (August 23rd) $758.7 million Powerball lottery drawing, which is the largest lottery jackpot with a single winner in North American history. The ticket with the winning numbers 6, 7, 16, 23, 26 and the Powerball number 4 was sold at the Handy Variety convenience store in Watertown, Massachusetts.

There was quite a misunderstanding from ABC News where the Massachusetts state lottery initially said, on Wednesday night, that the jackpot had been won by a lottery ticket bought in Watertown.  However, seven hours later they issued a correction, stating the ticket was sold in Chicopee. One Watertown winner did, however, win $1 million.

From USA Today, one million other hopefuls will come away with something from the drawing. Six people won $2 million each and 34 more won $1 million. Grand prize winner aside, 9,397,723 players won a total of more than $135 million, lottery officials said.

The jackpot for Saturday's drawing drops back down to $40 million dollars. Pfffft! Chump change, right?

The jackpot is the second-largest ever, topped only by a $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot in 2016 that had three winning tickets.

Now the search is on to find that single winner!  I'm sure inquiring minds want to know, but chances are they'll choose to stay anonymous.
