Nick Cannon, husband of Mariah Carey and host of 'America's Got Talent,' has sparked controversy by wearing whiteface while promoting his new album 'White People Party Music.'

Cannon posted photos on his Instagram, posing as a character named Connor Smallnut. He is transformed to look like a nerdy white guy.

Shocked fans and the media began to comment and Cannon asked the critics and haters to realize he was not trying to make a broad political statement.

Cannon pointed to a photo of Robert Downey Jr.'s method acting practicing character donning blackface for a role in 'Tropic Thunder' and wrote, "There is a big difference between humor and hatred."

Despite making that delineation, Cannon is being accused of facilitating stereotypes, as criticism of his actions have filled the comments sections of his social social media postings. One only need look at his Instagram page for the outrage and arguments these images have caused.
