Hip-hop / rap artist Missy Elliott has recently revealed she has been secretly suffering with a major autoimmune disease called Grave's disease which affects the thyroid gland. Elliott was diagnosed back in 2008 with the disorder. She's claimed the symptoms came on so fast, she almost lost her ability to do everyday things that we take for granted, like drive and write. Missy says:

“I was [driving and] trying to put my foot on the brake, but my leg was jumping. I couldn’t keep the brake down and almost crashed,” the Virginia rapper-producer reportedly told People Magazine. “I couldn’t write because my nervous system was so bad — I couldn’t even use a pen.”

Grave's disease comes with several other side effects, in which Missy has suffered, including hair loss and mood swings. Missy has had radiation treatments, which she says has improved her condition.

Our prayers go out to Missy and we wish her well.
