Barbie, the famous doll brand from
Mattel is offering more diversity into their collection.

Growing up in a household with two sisters this should be good news to them because according to Essence, Barbie unveiled their new diverse collection on Wednesday (January 29th) and this collection will feature dolls with a darker skin tone, a doll with vitiligo, and even a doll that is suffering from hair loss.

Mattel issued a statement saying they are committed to continuing the journey to represent global diversity and inclusivity in t he fashion doll aisle by showing casing a mult-dimensional view of beauty and fashion.

Lisa McKnight, SVP and GM of Barbie & Dolls at Mattel said in a statement,

We are proud that Barbie is the most diverse doll line on the market that continues to evolve to better reflect the world girls see around them. Our commitment to better reflect the world drives a powerful conversation, and we know our efforts are resonating with eight consecutive quarters of growth and the Fashionistas category up double digits in 2019.

If you remember last year Barbie released a doll in the likeness of civil rights icon Rosa Parks and I am sure with this new line of Barbie dolls we will continue to see more variety in culture and diversity.
