It’s been 10 years since Ludacris dropped a mixtape, but for fans seeking a new dose of street sounds from the multiplatinum rapper, the wait is almost over.

During a recent interview, Luda revealed the upcoming release of ’1.21 Gigawatts,’ explaining the title by saying “Gigawatts, that equals to a billion watts and so we basically taking it out of control. This whole thing is something you’re going to pump louder than anything you’ve ever heard in your life, basically. It’s definitely for the streets.”

Why a mixtape now? It’s all about giving back to the fans who have made him such a success, says Ludacris: “It’s been a decade. We’re celebrating a lot of platinum hits and it’s just something I feel like I want to do for my fans, man. Just give it back. Appreciation.”

Fans can also expect a new official album release before too long — Luda’s been hard at work on ‘Ludaversal,’ the follow-up to 2010′s platinum-selling ‘Battle of the Sexes,’ since last year.
