Kendrick Lamar Finally Speaks on ‘Control’ Verse
People have been waiting to hear from a few artists ever since Kendrick Lamar dropped that outstanding verse on Big Sean's ‘Control': the rappers he mentioned in the verse and Lamar himself to speak on the lyrics. Today we hear from the latter.
The TDE signee called in to Los Angeles radio station Power 106 and talked about his verse, focusing on the huge response and the King of New York claim.
“Honestly, I didn’t know there would be so much speculation about it. I just wanted to rap."
Lamar's interview with the radio station will be available in full, plus he also chatted with Peter Rosenberg on the Hot 97 Morning Show about the song. The 'good kid, m.A.A.d city' rhymer said he was in the U.K. when he first realized how much of an impact 'Control' had on the internet.
No rappers he called out on the record have approached or reached out to the MC, he reveals. "At the end of the day, if you listen to the line, these are cats that I feel can inspire the game and they inspire to be the best just like I feel I inspire to be the best so if they're competitive and they respect the culture of hip-hop I don't feel like there should be any type of ill feel towards it," Lamar says.
