While Jay Z was curating the Made In America music festival in Philadelphia over the weekend, his buddy Kanye West was performing at a wedding in the land of Borat. Uh, what? We'll explain.

According to the U.K.'s Daily Mail, Yeezy was hired to a perform a few songs Saturday (Aug. 31) at the wedding of Kazakhstan president Nursultan Nazarbayev's grandson Aysultan and his bride, Alima Boranbayeva. Kazakhstan, if you recall, was famously parodied in Sacha Baren Cohen's 2006 comedy flick, 'Borat.'

The nuptials took place at the Hotel Royal Tulip in the capital Almaty and West earned a cool $3 million for his appearance. Not a bad gig if you can get it.

We don't know much else except that West performed 'Can't Tell Me Nothing' at the private reception. Fashion photographer Helen Gadjilova, who was a guest at the event, posted a 15-second clip on her Instagram page, which has since gone viral.

Kazakhstan is located in Central Asia, which borders between Russia and China. Nazarbayev is the country's first and only president since gaining its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. The controversial leader has been dogged by allegations that he's an evil dictator whose family has been accused of money laundering, executions and corruption.

We don't know if West knew all of this before accepting the gig but, hey, it's a living.
