The bad news is the Red Octobers -- the extremely rare colorway of the Air Yeezy II sneaker -- still doesn't have a release date. The kicks are even more unlikely to never see the light of day because Kanye West has cut ties with Nike. The good news is West has a new partner: adidas.

The rapper announced his deal with adidas yesterday (Nov. 25) on Hot 97's Angie Martinez Show. West says Nike's refusal to offer him royalties spurred the decision. "The old me, without a daughter, would have taken the Nike deal because I just love Nikes so much," he says. "But the new me, with a daughter, takes the adidas deal because I have royalties and I have to provide for my family."

'Ye also claims the reason for Nike's refusal was because he wasn't an athlete, which is part of the reason why Michael Jordan gets royalties. Jordan makes 5 percent royalties, which is good for $100 million a year, according to West.

The 'Yeezus' creator famously noted the "Yeezys jumped over the Jumpman" on the song 'New God Flow' after the Air Yeezy II received more notoriety than the Air Jordan IV Military Blue releases. Such was the mindset of West when he spoke with Nike. "I told them, I go to the Garden and play one-on-no one. I’m a performance athlete," he says.

There was an obvious rift between West and Nike when the rapper dissed Nike CEO Mark Parker during one of his signature rants during a show at Barclays Center last week. "They tried to make it as small as possible," West said. "Mark Parker even talked s---, talking 'bout he don't even know why people like the Yeezys. They liked them like they liked the Jordans because I was in fourth grade getting kicked out for drawing Jordans, for being connected to that emotion as a creative."

When Angie Martinez asks about whether the deal is set in stone, West responded by saying it's "official, non-official, official." West concludes by saying that because he was the first hip-hop designer, he was going to be bigger than Walmart.

So where one road ends, another begins. Let's see where the West and adidas collaboration leads to. Hopefully it's somewhere less expensive -- the Air Yeezy 2 are worth approximately $2,750.
