Jeremih Calls Out Def Jam for Bungling His Album Release: ‘Y’all Don’t Even Deserve My Voice’
August Alsina is not the only artist frustrated with Def Jam on how they rolled out an album release. Labelmate Jeremih also blasted the historic label for messing up his LP release of his long-awaited project, Late Nights.
Much like Alsina, the Chicago crooner went on a Twitter tirade over what appears to be his low sales figures. He blames Def Jam for allegedly not shipping enough CDs to the big box stores, which may have left fans wondering where to buy the project.
"@DeafJamRecords y'all don't even deserve my voice," Jeremih tweeted as he purposely misspelled Def to read "Deaf Jam Records."
"There's actually no CD's in the stores to even buy, that's the main point. Each Best Buy was shipped 6-7 copies a [piece]," he added. "We checked in to the Corperate offices at Best Buy in Chicago and they told us LateNights wasn't on this wks added shipment list ,nor next weeks ?? #MyAlbumJustDroppedLastWeek."
If this is true, someone dropped the ball at Def Jam.
50 Cent recently blasted Def Jam for pricing Jeremih's album too high. “What Def Jam has done to Jeremih is so foul," he wrote on his Instagram page. “They have dropped the ball in so many ways. They have his Album out at $18.99. I have never seen a album priced that high in 5 years. SMH STUPID MOTHERF---ER.”
With both Jeremih and August angry at Def Jam for mishandling their projects, the label has a lot of explaining to do.
Reps for Def Jam have not responded to Jeremih's accusations.
