It’s An Epidemic- Another Texas Teacher Busted For Sex With Students
Another week, another story about Lone Star State teachers being arrested for alleged sexual encounters with students. This time it happened in Lufkin, & includes allegations of "tag-team action"!
Houston's KHOU-TV reports Heather Lee Robinson, age 38, was charged with 4 counts of an "improper relationship between educator & student". One of the students told cops he & Robinson began "sexting" on Snapchat right after Spring Break, & she eventually invited him to her apartment to have sex. He asked if a friend he was with at the time could come along, & that led to the "2 on 1" scenario. Subsequent police investigation found two other male students who had sex with Robinson on multiple occasions, separately! They described sneaking out of their homes, being picked up by Robinson & driven to her apartment, then taken back home after the sexual escapades.
According to the affidavit, Robinson admitted the relationships to officers, blaming her behavior on the effects of heavy drinking, & claiming to have difficulty remembering details of the specific encounters as a result. She resigned her teaching position with Hudson ISD following the arrest.
So with similar stories coming out week after week after week for months now, my question is this: are all of these teacher-student "relationships" really a recent phenomenon, or have they been happening for years but nobody took steps to get law enforcement involved, with the resulting public disclosures? If they ARE a relatively new "thing", what do you think is at the root of it? I can honestly say there was never any gossip about stuff like this back in my school years- would love to know if you were aware of any similar situations prior to the past few years.
