The Houston Texans were supposed to be Super Bowl contenders this season, but now they look to be headed to have the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

They're also looking for a new head coach.

The Texans fired coach Gary Kubiak on Friday, a day after losing to the hapless Jacksonville Jaguars to lose their 11th consecutive game to drop to 2-11 on the season.

"This has been a very disappointing year," Texans owner Bob McNair said. "We started with such high hopes. To have this string of losses is unacceptable. We normally would wait until end of year to evaluate our staff, under these extreme circumstances thought best to start process now."

Former Dallas Cowboys head coach and the Texans' current defensive coordinator Wade Phillips will be the interim head coach.

Kubiak was 61-64 with the Texans before being let go in the middle of his eighth season. He suffered a "mini-stroke" in November while walking off the field against the Indianapolis Colts. He missed one game.

McNair also said rookie Case Keenum will be the Texans' starter at quarterback for the remainder of the season. The Texans have gotten a disappointing season out of Matt Schaub, whose game-changing interception against Jacksonville on Thursday night was likely the proverbial nail in the coffin on his career in Houston.

Who do you think should be the new coach in Houston?
