A 39-year-old Honduran man who was forcibly separated from his wife and 3-year-old son after they crossed the border and asked for asylum committed suicide in a Texas cell last month.

From the New York Daily News, Marco Antonio Munoz was arrested by Border Patrol agents on May 11th and taken into a processing center by Border Agents where he became “disruptive and combative.”

The Washington Post cited unnamed Border Patrol agent saying Munoz, quote, “lost it” when he was told his family would be separated, and that they had to used physical force to take his child away from him.

There has been a public outcry from some over the Trump administration’s policy of separating children from parents when families are caught crossing the border illegally, as well when families legally present themselves and ask for asylum.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Marco Antonio Munoz.
