Chris Brown has spent the bulk of his career avoiding jail, but yesterday he went behind bars by choice.

Brown turned himself in a day ahead of schedule for his hit and run case and managed to avoid cameras in a pretty crafty way, thanks to his superstar attorney Mark Geragos.

TMZ reports that Brown ducked in after photographers, who were at the courthouse to snap photos of 50 Cent (who was, coincidentally, there for a domestic violence case), left for the day. It all went down around 2:40PM.

Breezy was released on his own recognizance, though he could afford almost any bail amount the court felt like setting, after roughly 45 minutes.

Brown previously pleaded not guilty to his charges, which included driving without a license or proof of insurance and handing over false information after rear-ending a Mercedes. Since he wasn't arrested at the time of the accident, he was ordered to turn himself in to police by today (Aug. 6).

The case is still expected to go to trial on Aug. 15, with Brown maintaining his innocence. Here's hoping he actually is innocent -- it's not like he can afford risking more problems with his probation.
