In Week 12, the race for the Heisman Trophy may be a wrap.

New in the race is Northern Illinois quarterback Jordan Lynch, who has had a great season with more than 1,400 yards rushing with 17 TDs and more than 2,400 yards passing and 21 TDs.

Lynch comes in at No. 5 in the latest top five of Heisman contenders.

Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota is all but out of it after a critical loss a few weeks ago to Stanford, and after another loss by the Ducks on Saturday to Arizona.

At No. 3, quarterback A.J. McCarron of Alabama is on the verge of his third national championship in four years.

Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel hurt his chances Saturday in a critical loss to LSU and a subpar performance, completing only 16 of 41 passes for 241 yards and rushing for only 54. Don't count on him to repeat.

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston continues to excel. He threw four more touchdown passes on Saturday against Idaho State in a game that saw the Seminoles put up 80 points.
