Tuesday evening the Heart of Tyler hosted their annual meeting at Gallery Main Street in Downtown Tyler.

Each year they host a public meeting to share with the community the past year's achievements, and what to look forward to in the coming year.

As a Member of the Board of Directors for the organization, I'm intimately aware of the growth and development of the area, and progress that has been made.

It was a pleasure to see the community react to the outstanding achievements that our non-profit has accomplished. At the Texas Downtown Association Awards, Tyler was recognized with three President Awards competing with all cities in state with a population over 50,000.

Martin Walker Law Firm was awarded the Best Commercial Interior, Black Tie Bingo picked up the award for Best Promotional Event, and Tyler is home to the Texas Downtowner of the Year, Mrs. Ingrid Young.

Ingrid is a dear friend of mine, and has lead our committee to double our funds raised over the past few years. With her leadership the event has grown from an event that raised approximately $15,000 to raising over $30,000 in 2015.

Heart of Tyler also presented their annual Brick Award to Allen Bell for his remarkable contributions to Downtown Tyler over the years.
