Funeral Services Set for Smith County Volunteer Firefighter Jalen Smith
Funeral services have been set for Jackson Heights Volunteer Firefighter Jalen Smith, who died from injuries he sustained from a traffic accident while responding to a call last Friday evening.
A public visitation is set for 1 to 4 p.m. Friday Dec. 7 at the Jackson Heights Volunteer Fire Department at 19823 Highway 31 East in Tyler. A candlelight vigil will follow at 6 p.m. at the fire station.
A traditional firefighter funeral service will be held for Smith at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 at Green Acres Baptist Church at 1607 Troup Highway in Tyler, followed by a procession to the gravesite at Asbury Cemetery in Overton.
A public viewing will be held before Saturday’s service beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Green Acres.
A memorial fund has been established on behalf of Firefighter Smith at Austin Bank. Donations can be made at any Austin Bank Branch location.
