The mobile food industry will soon be rolling into the newly approved Tyler Food Truck Park in downtown as early as this fall!At their Wednesday meeting, the Tyler City Council approved the rezoning of a tract of land at the corner of Elm Street and Center Avenue in downtown. In the beginning the food truck park will accommodate five food trucks and will feature indoor and outdoor seating and restrooms. Phase two of the construction will include the addition of a cantina, commercial kitchen and a stage for live musical performances.

Park developer Carlo D'Angelo tells KLTV,

The overwhelming response to our food truck park idea just caught on. I completely abandoned the idea of putting a law office there and we are all in for food trucks."

The city said there are five mobile food trucks permitted to operate within the city, but that number is expected to increase once the park is developed. More applications are waiting for approval to operate within the city and the new park. Developers are hoping to have the park designed and built with food trucks serving food from at this location by fall 2016. By design, parking spaces for patrons are not included in the plans, so that it will create foot traffic from the downtown area.
