It's been 42 days since we've have measurable rainfall in Tyler and pretty much all of East Texas, but that's about to change.

East Texas is due some rain and we're about to get it as early as this evening.

Rain chances are dramatically increasing for the Piney Woods of East Texas, beginning as early as this evening and will continue through at least Sunday before tapering off to minimal chances at the beginning of next week.

In anticipation of the expected rain, the National Weather Service has issued Flash Flood Watches for parts of East Texas. Henderson, Van Zandt, Kaufman, Rains, Hopkins, Hunt and Delta counties are under a Flash Flood Watch until Sunday evening.

Weather models say this part of the area could receive anywhere from 2 to 5 inches of rain with pockets of up to 7 inches of rain. If areas of these counties or other parts of East Texas receives this amount of rain, flash flooding could occur because it's been so dry.

With the expected rain, temperatures are expected to fall back to being more seasonal and we'll see highs in the low 70s this weekend.

So, if you have outdoor plans you'll want to keep a chance of rain in mind and the umbrellas handy!
