Empire is getting a final curtain call!

After fans were concerned about the status of actor Jussie Smollett's character on Empire, many of us were not thinking about the entire cast.

According to Deadline, on Monday (May 13th) Fox announced that Empire will be going into their final season.

Let's rewind to the scandal with Smollett to freshen up our memory.

Smollett, who is a gay black man said he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack in Chicago on January 29th.  He was then charged with 16 counts of felony disorderly conduct for allegedly conspiring with the attackers in which those charges were dropped.

Fox welcomed him back to the show, but would not appear in any future shows.

Fox CEO Charlie Collier said in a statement,

We are turning the final season into a television event, we are trying to go out guns blazing.  You allow fans to lean in and have the ending they deserve.

Collier also admitted that because of the cancellation of Empire would create a diversity problem at the network as other shows like Lethal Weapon, Rel, Proven Innocent, The Cool Kids, and Star were all canceled.

As for Lucious Lyon played by Terrance Howard and his wife Cookie played by Taraji P. Henson and the rest of the family- One thing we know for sure is that they will definitely go out with a bang.
