Many parts of East Texas were woken up this morning to a round of strong thunderstorms that produced locally heavy rainfall and quite a bit of lightning and thunder.  That trend will hopefully continue through the weekend and bring cooler temperatures to East Texas too.

Showers and thunderstorms have popped up each afternoon over the last few days in East Texas’ northern counties and some in the southern counties, but the central counties have been high and dry until this morning.  The line of strong storms moved through early Friday morning and lingering showers continue to fall on parched dry land in East Texas.

Friday afternoon we’ll expect high temperatures in the mid to upper 90′s with a chance of thunderstorms again this evening.  East Texas is expecting a cold front to pass through and hang around throughout the weekend and to bring cooler high temperatures to the area along with a chance of rain.  Highs Saturday and Sunday are expected to be around 85 to 87 according to KLTV 7 Meteorologist Grant Dade with a decent chance of rain for all of us through Sunday.

I for one am looking forward to this weekend, even if it’s a washout, my water bill will get a relief along with my yard!
