We've all seen the extreme makeover home shows, or those well-deserving families get the brand new home of their dreams. HGTV brings its audience that - and more. Now, a small East Texas town is hoping its remodel dreams come true.

According to KLTV, the town of Big Sandy has applied to be a part of an HGTV mini-series to help restore its small town charm, and receive a town makeover.

The mayor of Big Sandy, Sonny Parsons, told KLTV, "Our city secretary noticed something in regard to renovation of a town’s old areas, from a program on television. We thought, ‘Let’s go ahead because we have a lot to sell here as far as the town,"

The show is set to premiere sometime next year under the name 'Home Town Takeover' in 2021.

HGTV is asking its viewers to submit pictures and stories of their hometowns and why they believe it's deserving of a makeover. There are just a few requirements:

  • A population of less than 40,000
  • Homes with great architecture that need restoration
  • A main street that could use a face lift

There are multiple East Texas towns that can enter to win! If you want to submit your town, you can do so here. The deadline is coming fast though, you have until February 7, 2020 to submit your application.
