East Texas Crisis Center Presents ‘Walk a Mile in Her Shoes’

Come up is a deadline that the men of East Texas need to rush to meet. Those men of this area that want to show their support and love for their women counterparts and friends need to sign up to participate in the first ever East Texas Crisis Center's 'Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" charity walk. 

Taking place in Athens, Texas this June 1st, will be the first annual charity walk where men can show their support for the ladies. This Saturday event will have a bit of a twist to it, the men that participate will walk this charity mile in high heels. Yes, they will literally be walking a mile in women's shoes. Why?

"There's an old saying: "You can't really understand another person's experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes." Walk A Mile in Her Shoes ask men to literally walk one mile in women's high heeled shoes. It's not easy walking in these shoes, but its fun and it gets the community to talk about something that is really difficult to talk about: gender relations and sexual violence. It demonstrates that men are willing and able to be courageous partners with women in making the world a safer place."

The deadline to register for this event is coming up on April 15th. The registered high heeled men will receive a complimentary T-shirt and a sense of good doing for the women of this area.
