Chris Brown on ‘Today’ Show: ‘What I Did Was Totally Wrong’

Chris Brown is back in the media spotlight to promote his brand new song 'Fine China' and forthcoming album 'X.' The singer visited the 'Today' show and spoke with host Matt Lauer Monday morning to not only let the world know about his new music but that he's also a changed man.

Of course Lauer gave Brown some tough questions about his 2009 felony assault charges for beating Rihanna.

"For me I've been humbled by the whole experience," said Brown. "From me losing everything to me having to regain public opinion, or whatever it is but most importantly, knowing that what I did was totally wrong. And having to kind of deal with myself and kind of forgive myself in the same breathe. Being able to apologize to Rihanna and being able to to be that man that can be 'a man.'"

Lauer also asked Brown how he felt about naysayers who don't believe he is a new man and is in fact playing the nice guy to promote his new album, especially after his fights with Drake and Frank Ocean in the last year.

"I think everybody's entitled to their opinion," the singer shared. "To me it's just a learning process. I have to just take it one day at a time. I can't make everybody like me. I think for my album and what I'm promoting as far as the single or whatever it is, it's just about me being positive and everything that I'm doing with my music is hopefully to inspire the world and inspire people who have been in my situation or even those who are trying to learn from it."

He also confirmed that the rumors of him and Rihanna being broken up are not true.

"Everything is good, we're fine," said Brown.

"I think it's me proving myself once again and also just me being a man and knowing that what I did was wrong and never doing it again. As far as me and her are concerned, she knows my heart and I know her heart."

Brown's 'X' album is due this summer.
