Chris Brown Denies Ever Owning Monkey After Being Hit With Criminal Charges
Chris Brown is coming clean about his alleged pet monkey, and he's doing so by claiming he never had one at all.
Yesterday (Dec. 27), TMZ reported that the Heartbreak on a Full Moon singer is facing two charges after he reportedly copped himself a baby capuchin monkey without a permit last year. Fans assumed Brown owned the pet when he posted a video of his daughter Royalty playing with the wild animal last December. Now, the celebrity gossip site reveals that "Left, Right" crooner wants to set the story straight.
Chris Brown claims that he is not the rightful owner of the monkey named Fiji. He says that the video of Royalty was filmed at the true owner's home in Las Vegas and not at his house in L.A. Although Fiji had been in Brown's custody at the time it was taken away by police, C. Breezy denies ever having actually owned the monkey. He says it was coincidence that the relative who owns Fiji just happened to be in town at the time.
If convicted, the "To My Bed" singer can face up to six months behind bars. This would add to the King of R&B contender's growing list of legal troubles in 2018. Back in July, the "I Don't Die" singer was arrested in West Palm Beach, Fla. on an outstanding 2017 warrant for felony battery right after his performance at the Coral Sky Amphitheatre.
Brown is due in court on Feb. 6 where he can plead his case to the judge.
