Celebrities are coming together to prevent a Texas inmate from being executed.

According to the Associated Press, Rodney Reed has spent more than 20 years on death row in Texas after being convicted of the 1996 murder of Stacey Stites.

Authorities claim that Reed raped, assaulted, and strangled Stites, but he maintained his innocence.

Since then celebrities like Rihanna, T.I., and even Oprah has been speaking out trying to get the attention of Governor Greg Abbott to stop the execution.

Kim Kardashian West has also joined in the fight and issued a plea asking Governor Abbott to review the case.

Sources close to Kim say that she's spoken to Reed and she believes the new witnesses and evidence can exonerate Reed and implicate the real killer.

Reed's brother thanked Kim for her involvement saying,

I want you to know you are a major God-send to my family - more than you may ever fully realize in this lifetime. You are a blessing to all the families you advocate for. We're so glad you have publicly voiced that you also believe he is innocent.

Even Texas Senator Ted Cruz spoke on Reed's behalf,

Having spent years in law enforcement, I believe capital punishment can be justice for the very worst murderers, but if there is credible evidence there’s a real chance a defendant is innocent, that evidence should be weighed carefully.

Reed is set to be executed on November 20th.
