Bill Duke to Visit Jarvis Christian College to Screen ‘Dark Girls’

In celebration of Black History Month, Jarvis Christian College will have a screening of 'Dark Girls.' The was shown on the OWN network and was directed by Bill Duke.

Bill Duke will be on hand for a screening of the movie at 6:30 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 19) at Jarvis in Hawkins.

This is a controversial film that dives under the surface of colorism and the prejudices that dark-skinned women face throughout the world. It looks at the root of classism, racism and the lack of self-esteem within a segment of cultures that span from America to the most remote locations in the world.
