The family of Atatiana Jefferson has been experiencing unexpected tragedy since her untimely death at the hands of Fort Worth Police in October of last year.

According to CNN, Yolanda Carr Atatiana’s mother has passed away on Thursday (January 9th) in the same home her daughter was shot and killed.

Her death comes just two months after Atatiana’s father Marquis A. Jefferson passed away of cardiac arrest.

The cause of Yolanda’s death is not known at this time, but the family’s attorney S. Lee Merritt, she has been under the weather for some time.

In a Tweet Merritt said,

Yolanda’s family is devastated. This is why we call police brutality genocide. It is akin to a public lynching. It impacts the entire community. It is domestic terrorism under the color of state authority.

Atatiana was Carr's primary caregiver before her death in October.

Our thoughts and prayers are going out to the Jefferson family.
