A young man from Eckerd, Florida is looking for a real home. Orphaned from birth, this boy has never known a place he could call home. So, he decided to take action because "God helps those who help themselves." He went looking for this home at a local church service hoping for the best.

Davion Navar Henry Only has only three more years before he is out on his own in world legally. Though he has really been on his own since birth, Only is looking to change that before his 18th birthday.

Davion desperately wants a family and a home.

His powerful story is one of trials, tribulations, and hopefully victory.

Davion's mother gave birth to him while in jail. He has been in the foster system from that day since. Though his full name means, "beloved, brown, ruler of the home, the one and only," Davion has not had a home to rule or felt beloved.

His personal struggle has affected him in troubling ways in the past. He was once an angry child, very mad at the world and blaming everyone around him for his experiences. But, recently this has changed dramatically.

Davion recently found out his birth mother had passed. Feelings of loss, abandonment all over again, and a need for change washed over him. Though he never knew his mother, and finding out his mother had died on a public library computer, was the first time he had even searched for her, Davion realized she was never going to come save him.

Davion decided he needed to become a different person than the angry boy he had been. This, he hoped, would also help him find a permanent home to spend the rest of his teenage years.

So, Davion has sought help for his anger and dedicated himself completely to school. His transformation has been very noticeable and his case worker, Connie Going, will attest to this improvement. "He's come a long way," Going says. "He decided he wanted to control his behavior and show everyone who he could be," which has led him to open up to the world. "He's starting to put himself out there, which is hard when you've been rejected so many times," Going said.

This struggle through every step of life is starting to reveal a strong and good hearted young man. An orphaned boy who wants to someone to show him encouragement in this process and love for all of what he is.

That is why Davion attended a church service at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Eckerd, Fla., to try to find a home.

Very nervous and doubting his decision to confront this congregation with his plea, Davion sat in his oversized suit. The suit was donated just like his tie that was his first lesson in how to tie a proper neck tie. He clenched the Bible a family had given him in one of his countless foster homes. He sat, waiting and praying for what was about to come.

Then, when the preacher's sermon ended with how God and others can lift up orphans, Davion was introduced to the crowd. This nervous young man took to his feet and approached the podium to ask if he could please find a home with anyone there.

It is unknown at this time whether Davion has yet been adopted. For more information about him, please contact Eckerd at (866) 233-0790.
