No more mini shampoo bottles.

There's a big push happening to reduce plastic waste, and Holiday Inn announced this week that it's getting rid of miniature plastic bottles in all of its 843,000 rooms across the country.

On my vacation last week I stayed at two Holiday Inn hotels in different cities in Colorado, and they in those locations they had already transitioned to larger shampoo, conditioner, and body wash bottles.  And they bolted those suckers to the wall!  The refillable bottles were made of metal and housekeeping topped them off each day.  The metal bottles were locked inside a metal bracket which was bolted to the shower tiles.  No more taking shampoo and conditioner bottles home as a souvenir, without taking the entire shower along too.

Before making the decision to go bigger with its hair and body product bottles, Holiday Inn had been using 200 million miniature plastic bottles each year.

Not all Holiday Inn rooms have made the transition yet away from the small ones, but the process of getting rid of them should be completed by 2021.

Now, if only the towels could get bigger too.
