Police in Florence, Ala., yesterday responded to reports from a local post office about a suspicious package at the facility.

Upon arrival, the department examined the bags using X-Ray technology. The area was then shut down as bomb technicians were called in.

The entire city waited on the edge of their seats and news outlets swarmed the area as the bomb squad utilized a robot to remove the bags from the area.

During transport, however, one of the bags ripped open, revealing a hot dog wrapped in aluminum foil.

Police say they're still baffled as to why someone would leave a bag full of hot dogs outside the post office. Their best guess is that a homeless person may have left the bags there overnight.

Despite the brief chaos, the city and the police agree that it's better to be safe than sorry.
